With a 3 billion dollar deficit, officials in Florida face tough choices to balance the state budget. Medicaid costs have been rising in Florida and, understandably, lawmakers have sought ways to cut costs in the system. Many aspects of the new Medicaid law however offer little to no fiscal benefit and may in fact create significant economic damage to Florida’s economy. You can help protect your access to quality health care and pharmacy services by joining our effort and by signing this petition. Now is the time to take a stand to ensure all Floridians have a choice of pharmacy provider and access to necessary pharmacy services! Speak out with Pharmacy Choice and Access Now in support of the following patient and pharmacy protections by signing the petition at http://www.rxchoiceandaccess.com/sign-the-petition.

I support choice and access to quality care and pharmacy services for all Floridians. I believe it is important that community-based pharmacies and the patients they serve are protected as new health care laws are implemented in the State. I support pharmacy and patient protections in Florida such as:

1. Allowing Medicaid patients to have their prescriptions filled at the pharmacy of their choosing, because excluding qualified providers from serving patients makes no sense for Florida consumers or Florida businesses.

2. No mandatory mail ordering of prescriptions for Medicaid patients or state employees, because many people desire or require hands-on assistance of a trusted pharmacist for their health care needs that a mail catalog cannot provide.

3. Allowing patients to maintain the option of filling 90 day prescriptions in-person with the help of a community-based pharmacist, especially for the disabled, who require the hands-on assistance to fill their prescriptions that only community pharmacist can provide.

4. Timely provider reimbursement, so that qualified providers can continue to serve Medicaid patients in their communities.

5. Medicaid Manager Transparency to ensure that patients and taxpayers are protected under a Medicaid Managed Care structure.
